. This game promised to spill blood, sweat, and ultimately tears before a winner would be decided. It did not disappoint.
The game opened to an evenly matched back and forth before the Blazers Struck first! The Classic Sedinery between Derick Nicholson and Jose Laporte setup Tanner Macey for a long deceptive shot to put the Blazers up by one.
The Jets roared back and pushed the game back into the Blazers end. Then a Lynden Eddy outlet found Rob Speers whom with a deft little touch split the D with a Breakaway pass to Kolby Koshack - Kolby went in all alone and dangled for a beautiful backhand to send the crowd wild on the Blazers 2-0 lead!
And, the game was set. From there on it was a roller coaster of hard Blazers forecheck and a methodically tic-tac-tow counter attack by the Jets through the neutral zone. Chris Albrecht closed the door for the rest of the night stymying deadly downlow blazer chances off the cycle. And Mike Williams stood tall as the Jets push hard and often with wave after wave of pressure.
The battles were vicious, and the Jets finally found themselves with a Five-on-three to equalize. The Jets loaded up on the power play and dominated. With an umbrella set up, nearly a dozen shots poured down on goalie Mike Williams - whom stood like a wall turning everything aside. One tic-tac-toe setup an empty net - which Williams dove across to snag - stealing a guaranteed goal! Back from representing Canada at worlds, Mike’s legend grew - then Jet Alex Jalbert found League Scoring leader Sean Phare down low who quickly faked a shot and reversed to the high slot where Nick Noujame jumped in from the point to snipe low blocker-post. The Jets were on the board, reinvigorated.
The rollercoaster continued as the Blazers countered, but the Jets final push had begun and they came firing on all cylinders to tie it. League’s Most Valuable Defenseman David Marshal led the defense - minutes ticked down as Blazers threw themselves in block against a Jets-onslaught from all angles!
With the goalie pulled, the Jets wired a low back door one timer to tie the game - but Blazers Points leader Kolby Koshack intercepted the pass, and sailed it down for the empty net goal with 17 seconds left, and solidified the win!
Congratulations Blazers, you dominated the lead with tight two-way play all year and earned every inch of this 3-1, 2025 Championship win.
